Edward Crane
Board Member
In a long and varied public relations career, Ed Crane has served for nearly four decades as a publicist and publicity executive in the motion picture, television and broadcasting industries, as well as for non entertainment-related ventures.
Starting as an apprentice with CBS-Channel 2 news, his studio associations include Universal, Warner Bros., Lorimar and Avco Embassy Pictures, publicizing such series as "McHale's Navy," "The Virginian," "Dragnet," "The Waltons" and "The Name of the Game," and such films as "Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes," "The Killing Fields," "Airport 1975," "Earthquake!" and "Jaws," among many others.
His non entertainment accounts range from a semiconductor manufacturer and an eye research foundation-to a leading westside interior design firm and a national pharmaceutical chain. He served two terms as president of The Publicists Guild of America, the film and TV publicists' national union--and as a board member of Entertainment Industries Council, a Washington, DC-Hollywood alliance dedicated to promoting an accurate, non-glorifying depiction of substance abuse/violence in the media.
He received his BA from Stanford University and subsequently served as an officer in the U.S. Army Reserve and California National Guard. Ed and his wife, Cheryl, have resided in Tarzana for 33 years. |
